Those who want to register their kindergarten and new students in Ithan, Radnor and Wayne Elementary Schools can do so on March 1. Parents can pick up a registration packet from each school’s main office beginning Feb. 1. The completed packet must be returned by appointment or as directed at the school building by March 30. Tours of each school building will be available from January through April. Those interested in a tour can make an appointment through each building’s main office: Radnor Township School District requires parents to register children by March 30 to plan for accurate enrollment. All Radnor Township School District parents and community members interested in learning more about Elementary Literacy are invited to attend the inaugural Radnor Township School District Information Session on Wednesday, Jan. 25 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the ground floor conference room of the administration building. The topic of Elementary Literacy was chosen through a survey that was open to the public. Other issues of interest to respondents were standardized assessments, gifted education, effect of coursework on college acceptance, and homework. Brucie Rapoport and Robert Armstrong were elected president and vice president, respectively, of the Radnor Township School District Board of School Directors at a Dec. 6 Reorganization Meeting in Radnor High School’s Black Box Theater. Newly elected board members Lisa Borowski and Kimm Doherty were also sworn in by Judge Ann A. Osborne of the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas. Borowski and Doherty replace Steven K. Gerber and Greg McNicholas, both of whom retired after four years of school board service. Rapoport, Armstrong, Borowski and Doherty join incumbent board members Patricia Booker, Charles E. The Pennsylvania Department of Education has announced that all five Radnor Township School District (RTSD) schools have achieved Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for the 2010-2011 school year. It is the ninth consecutive year Ithan, Radnor and Wayne Elementary Schools, Radnor Middle School, and Radnor High School have all achieved AYP. RTSD is the only school district in Delaware County in which every one of its schools has achieved AYP each year since the measurement began in the 2002-2003 school year. “Meeting, and exceeding, AYP for the ninth straight year once again confirms how exceptional our schools truly are,” RTSD Superintendent Dr. Linda Grobman said. “We cannot rest on our laurels, however. Radnor Township School District has started its own fledgling museum.
On Thursday morning members of the Wayne Business Association visited the Radnor Township School District's fledgling — but growing — archive room. The room is located in the basement of the administrative building, but officials say they dream of a large space in Radnor High School to one day house a museum of Radnor stuff. And already a lot of interesting Radnor paraphernalia has been collected and is on display. To visit the room, contact the Radnor Alumni Council.
