The Wayne Business Association is holding its annual Clean Up Day on Saturday, May 18 from 9 to 11 a.m. The event started as a way to clean up the area in preparation for the annual Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony. To participate, just meet at the War Memorial in the parking lot across from the Radnor Middle School. Volunteers will walk and clean the Memorial Day Parade route starting from South Wayne Avenue. Trash bags, gloves, and a t-shirt are supplied.

New board members were sworn in and awards were given out at the annual meeting.
The Wayne Business Association held its annual awards dinner Thursday, April 18 at the Radnor Hotel. Louisa McDonald received the Benjamin V. M. Wilson Community Service Award for her Santa's Brigade, which collects toys and gives them to children who need them. Deanna Doane of Click Canyon received the Lawrence T. Adelberger, Sr. Member Service Award. Carol Jane of the Neighborhood League Shops and Jaime Whitcomb of Red Mango were sworn in as new board members.

The Wheels of Wayne car show event will be held on April 21 in downtown Wayne.
Radnor's first ever car show will be held on April 21 in downtown Wayne on North Wayne and West avenues. From noon to 4 p.m., the community can enjoy the unique and eclectic cars and motorcycles for free. There will be vendors and a pulled pork cook-off by local restaurants. The Wayne Business Association pays for the holiday decorations in downtown Wayne. On Thursday morning its Board of Directors met and tried out a new lighting fixture for the town's light poles. Chris Todd of Christopher's shows board members what the lighted wreaths would look like. A vote on new decorations is forthcoming.

Radnor's A Better Chance house hosted the Wayne Business Associaiton's monthly meeting on Thursday, Feb. 21. A Better Chance is a program that allows children from disadvantaged areas to attend a high school that may give them a better chance at success. The Radnor ABC house is on West Wayne Avenue in Wayne. The program has been in existence since 1972 in Radnor. Dear children, Ho! Ho! Ho! I just rode into Wayne last Saturday morning on the Radnor Fire Company ladder truck. The Radnor High School and Valley Forge Military bands sounded great as I followed them into town. On the porch of the Wayne Hotel, I met the coolest kids, who told me what they wished for Christmas. Santa thanks Paramour for their delicious cookies and hot chocolate! Sarah told me she loves Christmas, and would like a swim bag and art supplies. Clare hopes to get a puppy stuffed animal and a pillow pet, while Ryder wants Temple of Fire. Jack listed many things he would like, including Legos and a keyboard. Thankfully he also said I don’t have to get him everything on the list! Orlaith asked for Horseland and sister Nuala …

The 20th annual Radnor Fall Festival from the Wayne Business Association was held on Sunday, September 16 on North Wayne Avenue in the heart of downtown Wayne. Wayne resident Bob Miccolis was chosen the recipient of this year’s Benjamin V. M. Wilson Community Service Award from the Wayne Business Association and corporate sponsor Bryn Mawr Trust Company. The award is given to an individual from the Radnor community who is actively involved in the community as a volunteer, and who emulates Ben’s spirit of kindness, cheerfulness, and courage. Miccolis has been heavily involved in Radnor youth sports and scouting for more than 20 years. Read a profile on Miccolis here. After reading that that municipal parking lot will also be closed, I wonder if anyone has figured out where visitors plan to park!!?? It's hard enough to park in Wayne on a good day, now it will be almost impossible to park (legally) anywhere within a mile from town.   more ›
