Lauren Avellino Turton has 13 years of writing under her belt, since graduating from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Arts in mass communication. She has worked as a television producer and writer for NBC, FOX and the Comcast Network, is a two-time Associated Press Award winner, and was twice nominated for Mid-Atlantic Emmy Awards.

Throughout her TV career, she worked on several significant projects that she is most proud of, including a documentary on global warming reported from California, a five-year anniversary special on 9/11, and a series on the rebuilding of New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina.

Being a die-hard Philadelphia sports fan, she has also enjoyed projects on the lighter side, including Philadelphia Eagles playoff specials and a live Phillies special from Citizens Bank Park.

She has written for several mainstream publications, including The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Daily Times of Delaware County. She also has a passion for public relations and event planning.

She's been able to use those professional skills to support several charities, such as Tug McGraw Foundation and Komen for the Cure, by helping plan and promote fundraisers, as well as participate in and publicize many runs and walks. Being an avid runner and promoter of exercise, she figured why not translate her mileage into helping others who need it?

Her favorite sports team? E-A-G-L-E-S, of course. The World Champion Phils are also atop that list, and the Flyers, too. Her favorite musician? Jimmy Buffett. She's a tried and true beach bum and Parrothead, and as of 2011, saw her 20th JB concert.

She grew up in Philadelphia, and enjoyed spending her summers in Ocean City. She and her husband, Andy, have called Media home since moving there following their 2006 wedding.
