Elections: Is There Color Confusion?

Are candidates also now shedding the colors that have typically represented the Republican and Democratic parties?

You may have noticed that in recent years campaign signs do not include the name of the candidates' party.

But are candidates also now shedding the colors that have typically represented the Republican and Democratic parties?

This year Republican candidates for Delaware County Council David J. White and Mario J. Civera went with a blue and white poster. Meanwhile, Radnor's Democratic School Board slate chose the color red for its poster.

Radnor's Democratic Party chair George Badey opined that on the county level the traditionally "red" Republican candidates are trying to distance themselves from their national party.

Radnor Democratic slate member Rob Armstrong said his slate's red signs were meant to be "Radnor red" and show school district pride.

What do you think? Are there any issues with swapping colors or do you think it's good to break out of the typical blue and red?
