As School Year Starts, So Do Villanova Laptop Thefts

Dozens of laptops were plucked from the library, classrooms and athletic center of the school last year. This year, the crime is off to a quick start.

By the end of the last school year, Villanova University was experiencing a rash of laptop computer thefts. They were plucked away anywhere from campus bathrooms to the Jake Nevin Fieldhouse, where at least nine were stolen at one time.

The thefts have restarted for this school year. This week these were reported to the Radnor Township Police Department:

  • Two students each reported that his university-leased $1,200 Dell laptop was left by his locker in the men's locker room at the Pavilion at 3:30 p.m. and was missing by 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20.
  • A student reported that she accidentally left her laptop computer, valued at $1,000, in Donahue Hall when she was there from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 17. She went back to the hall, but could not locate it, according to a police report.
