Driver Cited for Hitting Utility Pole, Causing Power Outage

In striking the poll, a driver created a low hanging wire that was subsequently hit.


162 residents lost their electricity Tuesday morning after a vehicle hit a utility pole at Pembroke and Windermere avenues in South Wayne around 9:45 a.m.

According to Lt. Christopher Flanagan of Radnor Police, a person told police that around 7:45 a.m. Tuesday he struck the poll and left the scene. In striking the poll, he created a low hanging wire that was subsequently hit.

The driver will be cited for leaving the scene of an accident, Flanagan said. Power was to be restored by 2 p.m., PECO told Radnor Patch.

Wires were also downed near Abrahams and Parkes Run lanes Tuesday morning.
